Organ Transplant Data Editorial Process · Editorial Process
PlainTransplant is a data journalism portal that examines U.S. organ transplant program performance using public data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR), OPTN/UNOS, and HRSA. The team draws from official government releases to produce readable profiles of transplant centers, survival rates, and waitlist statistics. Content is compiled by our editorial process. The team maintains independence by not accepting payment from hospitals, transplant programs, or any covered entity.

plaintransplant is a data-journalism publisher: we compile public datasets, verify them against their official sources, and present them in plain language. Editorial standards, sourcing, and how we handle corrections are described on our about and methodology pages.
PlainTransplant’s data pages are rendered directly from SRTR Program-Specific Reports, no number on them is typed in by an editor. This page is written explanation rather than a data page, and any illustrative figures in it are labelled as illustrative. This page describes the publisher's editorial process and lists its authors; it is not itself a database-rendered page. See our editorial standards & corrections policy, the methodology behind these numbers, or report a correction.
